FAQ

What is Chyawanprash?

Chyawanprash is an ancient (at least 5000 years old) Vedic Functional Food Recipe. It contains a total of 35 ingredients including botanicals, aromatic spices and linoleic rich fats, which are skillfully combined to produce a “multi-herbal” jam. In Ayurveda, the traditional wellness system of ancient India, Chyawanprash is recommended for daily use as a Super Nutritional Supplement to support and promote longevity, immunity, and rejuvenation. It also tastes great!

The name Chyawanprash contains 2 parts ‘Chywan’ and ‘Prash’.

Chyawan is the name of one of the wise and brilliant sages (Rishis) of Ancient India during the Vedic Era (5000 years ago). During his long meditation, he was blessed with the revelation to create Chyawanprash – a kind of designer food recipe that one can take daily for total health and quality of life.

‘Prash’ – means to consume artfully.

After formulating, Sage Chyawan himself consumed it to validate its safety and efficacy. Sage Chyawan consumed it daily at 4 am followed by 40 minutes of meditation for 40 days. It is written that he was able to realize significant age reversal changes in himself. Since then, the ‘Chyawanprash’ formulation has been incorporated into Ayurveda texts under the branch called ‘Rasayana’ (Systemic Revitalization of Body & Mind).

So Chyawanprash is a dietary supplement to be consumed daily for a longer, healthier and happier life.

Why Chyawanprash is so important?

Chyawanprash is a classic combination of dietary ingredients and botanical supplements.
The primary ingredient in Chyawanprash is Amla fruit (Emblica officinalis) or Indian Gooseberry. Amla is an Ayurveda Super Fruit well known not only for its high content of Vitamin C, but more importantly for establishing the 3 Vital Life Operating Forces(Generation, Existence and Dissolution) in their respective physiological spaces. According to Ayurveda, this interdependency of 3 Vital Universal Energies is of utmost importance for quality of life!

Chyawanprash contains a total of 35 Ingredients out of which,

  1. Amla Berry is Properly Steamed, Baked and Cooked.
  2. 17 Botanicals are processed through Decoction.
  3. 8 Botanicals are used in Raw Powder Form.
  4. 3 Botanical extracts are included to foster efficacy.
  5. 4 Aromatic Spices are added as functional flavors.
  6. 3 Natural Cooking Agents.
  7. It is a superior and optimized combination of Healthy Complex Carbohydrates, Digestible Proteins, and Linoleic Rich Fats.

How is it prepared authentically?

Authentic preparation of Chyawanprash is an exhaustive and intricate process that takes 21 days to accomplish. Every ingredient must be added at the precise time and in the exact quantity according to the specific instructions given by Sage Chyawan. The entire process of manufacturing Chyawanprash is an Analogy Exemplary of Entire Body Revitalization and Metabolism. In other words, the actual process of creating Chyawanprash mirrors its action and absorption in the human body.

Ayurveda believes in 3 modalities to nurture all Body Tissues through Dietary Digestion.

  1. Transformation Mode – in which dietary substances are converted into precise body tissues (dhatus) by the action of ‘Agni’ (Transformation Energy)
  2. Homologous Absorbance Mode – Similar Structure, Function, and Quality of Dietary Ingredients nurture their respective Structural, Functional, and Qualitative similar Body Tissues.
  3. Successive Nourishment Mode – Dietary Ingredients will nurture Body Tissues as per their evolutory and embryonic generation path. (eg. Rice, for instance, will first nurture all water compartments of Body, then Reticuloendothelial system, and then Skeletal & Non Skeletal Muscles and so on…)

And the most important part is all 3 modalities in action at the same time; however, every dietary molecule defines its path as per given Time and Space conditions.

So there are 3 integral processes that reciprocate the above 3 Tissue Nurture Mechanisms.

  1. Amla Berry is transformed into Precursor Nurturing molecules through steaming with botanical herbs decoction and cooking with aromatic herbs and spices.
  2. Botanical Actives ingredients in Chyawanprash are homologous either in structure, function or quality of different physiological systems of the body. (e.g. Piper longum supports Respiratory System, Lotus Seeds support Cardiovascular system, Tribulus terrestris for Osmotic Balances etc. Selective fragments of Honey, Jaggery, Sesame Seed Oil, and Ghee nurture Carbohydrates, Proteins, and Fats of Body respectively.)
  3. All ingredients in tandem revitalize the entire dahtu (tissue) system through succession.

Therefore Amla Berries are steamed in a Medicinal Herbs Decoction and then filtered through cloth to remove fibers. Soft Amla Berry Pulp is cooked in Indian Non-Hybrid Cow Ghee and Sesame Oil. This pulp is further treated with Herb Powders. During Natural Cooling of this preparation, herbs are added in specific sequence to match entire Body Physiology. The formulation is then enriched with Aromatic Herbs. After cooling, the remainder of base ingredients like Raw Honey and Jaggery are added to accomplish the process. So the entire cascade of manufacturing steps exactly parallels the body tissue revitalization system. This entire process takes 21 days!

How Chyawanprash is consumed, at what time?

10 g (approximately 1 teaspoon) of Chyawanprash is typically consumed on an empty stomach early in the morning at the time of Sun Rise with Hot Indian – Non Hybrid – Grass Fed – Free Range Cows Milk and/or Hot Grass Fed – Free Range Goats Milk.

Alternatively, individuals who are abstaining from milk may take Chyawanprash followed by hot water.

Chyawanprash traditionally is not gulped all at once but rather licked slowly.

Why Honey, Black Sesame Oil, Indian Non-Hybrid Grass Fed Cow Ghee, and Raw Jaggery are added in Chyawanprash?

Ayurveda considers 3 Primordial energies (Constitution, Transformation, Conduction), which are the very reasons of any body’s life.

  1. Raw Honey is an excellent source for Constitution Energy.
  2. Indian Non-Hybrid Grass Fed Cow Ghee is an excellent source for Transformation Energy.
  3. Black Sesame Oil is an outstanding source for Conduction Energy.
  4. Jaggery is an excellent source for Bio adaptable essential micro minerals and Complex Carbohydrates.

Why we have customized it for western nations and modern human beings?

Ayurveda firmly believes in Evolution. Time and Space are fundamental drivers for evolution. Chyawanprash was formulated for the first time 5000 years ago. However all plants and herbs, the entire human race, imbalances, and other corollary factors in the Universe have evolved and their respective structure and functions are different today.

Considering and respecting this fundamental principle we have chosen all ingredients that are contemporary to 21st Century (Time) and Western Nations (Space).
